Here
is one of the more popular trends in the teen scene this year, Prep
School Chic. It's a fashion statement everyone seems to be making. You
can make a simple outfit completely change into something preppy just by
adding these few touches I'm going to share with you today. Add a knit
hat. It's super cute and flirty, which is a preppy statement. You can
never be too cute I say, throw on a Boyfriend Blazer, and no you don't
actually have to get it from your boyfriend. You can get it at any girls
clothing store, becuase ou want it to have a feminine feel to it and
not be to manly. Get a high waist skirt to show off your legs. And if
you're petite, it makes you look taller. If you're tall, it makes you
look shorter, which is a win win for all body types. So those are my
tips for you, I hope they're useful.

Hip Hop Fashion Trends - Then and Now
Hip hop fashion trends are not a newcomer to the fashion
scene by any means. In fact, this style has been around since the 1980's, when
celebrities like Will Smith and Christopher "Kid" Reid showed youth
how it should be done. Of course, hip hop fashion trends have evolved over the
past two decades as tastes and styles have changed to correspond with the
culture of the time. The following will offer you a brief but colorful history
into the world of hip hop, with some of the current fashion design today.
Early Hip Hop In the 1980's, major brand names became
synonymous with the hip hop fashion trends. Brands like Nike, Adidas and Clark
shoes were sported with leather bomber jackets and brightly-colored track
suits. Sports jerseys were a hot commodity, with Will Smith showing them off in
his hit television show, The Fresh Prince of Bellaire. This was the time when
heavy gold jewelry and large sunglasses came into play, creating an image of
wealth and luxury in the hip hop culture of this time. In the latter part of
this decade, MC Hammer and other rappers introduced hip hop fashion trends like
baggy pants and baseball caps.
The Gangsta Look In the 1900's, hip hop fashion trends shifted to the gangsta look in the fashion of the Los Angeles Chicano gangsters. This style sported baggy pants that were worn low and without a belt, shirt tails hanging outside the pants and bandanas on the head. In the midst of this fashion trend, designers were also providing something that the youth of this time liked, and brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Polo and Nautical also came into vogue. At this time, hip hop fashion trends evolved into urban street wear, with names like Mecca USA, Lugs and Roca wear coming into play.

Flash and Bling The turn of the century saw hip hop fashion
trends switch to flashy ensembles and bling jewelry, made popular by the likes
of Jay-Z and The Hot Boys. High end designers like Gucci came onto the hip hop
scene during this time as well. Today, the hip hop look has toned down
somewhat, with hip hop fashion trends that are more tailored and professional -
preppie hip hop, if you will. However, since the hip hop fashion trends are
primarily embraced by youth, this style will always be cutting edge and
separate from the fashion mainstream. After more than two decades on the
fashion scene, it appears that this trend is more than just a trend - it is a
fashion icon that is here to stay.

Street Fashion
Fashion trends change but the high street fashion look of 201o to 2012
is noted for its chic and comfy style with a blend of innocence and
sexiness all mixed to create the top era for street fashion this decade.
Take a look at some examples.

We seem to hear more and more about High Street Fashion but nobody looks
interested in explaining what it means. Fashion magazines, fashion
blogs all seem to have a separate column or category dedicated to this
phenomenon but all we see are pictures, pictures and more pictures!? So
what is it?
After some research that involved looking through many magazines and
seeing tons of pictures (like the one I was talking about above) I feel
that I might have an idea about what high street fashion is. You surely
have seen men and women, young girls and boys passing you on the street
that seem to have a very strong personal style. They either combine the
latest of the fashion designs or simply wear outfits that they,
themselves create.

RUNWAY REPORT } After New York Fashion week comes the highly anticipated London Fashion week.
The show kicked off on Friday, Sept. 14 with Antoni & Alison
(Pictured Above), who’s latest offering consisted of pretty silk
dresses. Other designers who showed were Fyodor Holan, Corrie Nielson
and Sass & Bide, who has popular models Cara Delevigne and Jourdan
Dunn walk for them.
On day 2 (Sept. 15), Daks opened first, with serene clothing, which was
followed by Sister by Sibling, who’s carnival-inspired clothes
contrasted well. Holly Fulton’s collection (Pictured Above) was
inspired by the Mexican beaches of the Sixties, while Jasper Conran’s
was inspired by the Midwest US.
On day 3 (Sept. 16) big names like Tom Ford and Vivienne Westwood
showed. Westwood’s models wore vibrant facepaint when they went down
the catwalk, and Tom Ford’s collection seemed to combine perversity with
chastity. But perhaps the most exciting show was for Philip Treacy’s
comeback show (Pictured Above). The designer hadn’t shown in London for
nearly 12 years. He had Lady Gaga open the show, while his other
models wore fantastical hats with show costumes originally worn by
Michael Jackson.
Day 4 (Sept. 17) saw the showing of quintessential British brand
Burberry (Pictured Above), who showed off metallic trench coats and
capes. They had a star line-up attend their afternoon show, with One
Direction member Harry Styles and Dita Von Teese attending. JW Anderson
showed a super feminine collection while Richard Nicoll delivered a
collection inspired by the sea.
On the final day (Sept. 18) of London fashion week, Mulberry showed
(Pictured Above). Their front row was filled with stars including Lana
Del Rey, Rebecca Hall, and Alexa Chung. Roksanda Illincic, a favorite of
Kate Middleton, showed tons of pretty dresses that the Duchess of
Cambridge will certainly be wearing. Christopher Bailey closed the
show, and he gave out the 2012 Fashion Fringe award to Haizhen Wang, a
Central Saint Martins graduate.
